Derek is a strategic thinker and innovative leader with over 30 years of experience in international finance and economic development. He held C-Suite roles spanning strategy, risk, and operations at Export Development Canada (EDC) and has underwritten financing for projects supporting the economic development of countries across the globe. At Momentus, Derek leads projects and advises clients on corporate strategy and business models, market and product strategies, enterprise risk management, and operational effectiveness.
Derek’s experience includes practical, executive-level management expertise in developing and implementing innovative new strategies, managing enterprise risks and evolving risk practices, transforming business lines with technology, and driving operational excellence through lean management systems. He has worked with CEOs and Boards of Directors to define and drive strategic change while ensuring prudent risk management at the enterprise level.
Derek has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Carleton University and a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario. He is a graduate of the Columbia Senior Executive Program at Columbia University.
